November 2011 - Update from NERC Chief Executive
Update from NERC Chief Executive 22 November 2011 : All Staff
We have all been waiting a long time for this news and so I am very pleased to be able to tell you Professor Duncan Wingham has today been named as the new NERC Chief Executive. He will take up his post on 1 January 2012. You can access the press release issued by the Department of Business, Innovation and Skills from the homepage of the NERC website.
Duncan has had a long relationship with NERC, serving on many Steering Committees and Boards over the years and as Director of the NERC Centre for Polar Observation and Modelling from 2000 to 2005. Since 2007 he has been the Chair of NERC's Science and Innovation Strategy Board and in this capacity he also attends Council meetings. This means he has been fully engaged in the development of the NERC Strategy and is extremely well placed to drive forward its delivery. I shall offer Duncan my full support and will be delighted to work with him to ensure a smooth handover of responsibilities.
