We are seeking to employ a talented researcher to study European storms in the WINDSURFER project. WINDSURFER is bringing together eight leading research institutions across Europe to co-develop new methods, tools and assessments of extreme wind and wave risk with a focus on the Insurance, Forestry and Energy sectors. The position will be involved in WP2 and WP3 of WINDSURFER, and in particular the evaluation and assessment of the impact of climate change on European storminess in the CMIP6 climate models. Effective collaboration with other partners within WINDSURFER will be required.

 You will have or shortly be expected to achieve:

-        A PhD or equivalent in physical or mathematical sciences
-        Experience of analysing or running climate models
-        Strong scientific computing skills
-        An understanding of physical climate processes
