The BBC has engaged the National Centre for Atmospheric Science (NCAS), an independent provider of research and services in atmospheric science, to regularly monitor the accuracy of MeteoGroup weather forecasts.

MeteoGroup, an international weather company, will provide high quality forecasts and state-of-the-art graphics solutions for weather services on BBC platforms worldwide, including TV, radio, web and mobile. Starting in February 2018, NCAS experts based at the University of Leeds will evaluate the accuracy of national forecasts by using weather data collected from observing stations around the UK, helping the BBC to ensure the best quality weather forecasts for the public.

MeteoGroup already provide weather services for the National Grid, organisations who maintain the UK Roads network, as well as Channel 4 and Sky News. The BBC will continue to be supported by the Met Office at times of severe weather.
