The "Haagen-Smit Award/Prize", first launched in year 2001, is designed to recognize outstanding papers published in the journal Atmospheric Environment. The prize is given annually to two papers previously published in Atmospheric Environment and covering different science areas. Its goal is to showcase the excellent science that has been published in this distinguished journal and to further attract outstanding future research. The 2009 Haagen-Smit prize has recently been awarded for the following publication: "Organic peroxy-radicals - Kinetics, spectroscopy and tropospheric chemistry, Atmos Environ., 26, 1805-1961, 1992". Dr Tony Cox is currently a member of the NCAS Executive Committee and has worked for some years amongst the NCAS community as a Principal Invesitgator, based at University of Cambridge, working in the area of laboratory studies of atmospheric reactions. Dr Mike Jenkin is currently an NCAS Principal Investigator, based at Imperial College, London and works in the area of troposheric chemistry, including air pollution modelling, kinetic studies and mecahnism development of atmospheric processes. Congratulations go to both.
