The Summer School in Atmospheric Measurement, a two-week field course, is aimed at atmospheric science PhD students entering their first or second year of research. It is also possible for a supervisor to secure a place for a first year student in advance of their PhD start date. The course is also open to early-career researchers new to atmospheric science fieldwork.
The Summer School is held annually in September on the Isle of Arran. The first week of the course will be held at the Kildonan Hotel on the south coast of the island and includes lecture presentations from expert atmospheric scientists. The remaining seven days are be held at the Lochranza Field Centre to the north of the island. Here students carry out various field measurement activities.

The course has been designed for:
- PhD Students who are researching a specific area of atmospheric science, in order to give them a broad overview of the atmospheric system, and/or
- PhD Students whose research project involves fieldwork, in order to introduce them to principles of atmospheric fieldwork including instrumentation, data analysis and organising fieldwork.
- Early-career researchers new to atmospheric science and working in the field.

Please do note that this course involves a week of outdoor atmospheric measurement activities.
Registration is now open and will close at midnight on the 31th May 2013. Applicants will be notified regarding their application in early July.
